Few Miabri (or so-called Tong Luang (Banana Leaf People)) carry out their subsistence lives in the mountaintops (800-1,200 meters) of Sayabouli’s Nam Phui National Protected Area moving camp every week to seek food.

A colorful mix of fact and folklore reveal Sayaboury’s past, which reaches back some 700 years. Most religious and natural sites have an interesting history embellished by legend. Ethnic diversity also marks Sayaboury, including small communities of rarely seen Phrai and Iu Mien.

This website aims to inform visitors about Sayaboury’s highlights, and how best to see and do them. It presents the various districts, their attractions, and the anecdotes behind them. The journey may be testing, but this truly authentic Lao experience delivers memories of a lifetime.
